New species of meat-eating allosaurus announced by Utah scientists


Madison Syrett, a paleontology collections intern at the Natural History Museum of Utah, looks a Allosaurus jimmadsen, a new species of meat-eating dinosaur, that was unveiled at the museum in Salt Lake City on Friday, Jan. 24, 2020. The beast inhabited the flood plains of western North America 157 million years ago, making it the geologically oldest specimen. Scott G Winterton, Deseret News

SALT LAKE CITY — The geologically oldest species of the meat-eating dinosaur allosaurus roamed western North America 157 million years ago, with one specimen unearthed at the Dinosaur National Monument in northeastern Utah.
